Some More Texas Pictures

Here's a few more random pictures of Texas...

The Boys

Nothing like boys wrestling. Jamie can't take Jamie Jr down any more!

Super Chris

This is Jeana's boyfriend Chris. He loves Superman! We had some good laughs when we went over to his house - especially when he made the mistake to tell us he had a cape!

The Gang

This is a picture of Jamie and Jeana's friends. It was fun meeting them and we had a great time together.

Julianna

Here's a few pictures of Julianna. Hard to believe it's been almost a month since we were there!

Andrew, Corbin and Amber

Here's some pictures Annie just sent me of the kids.....

Almost Time To Say Bon Voyage!

Today is Kathryn's birthday, tomorrow is Valentine's Day, Thursday is my brother's birthday but it's also the day that Kathryn and Larry leave on a 3-year tour of London. Kathryn is a Lt Cmdr in the Navy and is off to take over a post (she'd probably kill me to talk so civilian!). I don't see K too often, last time was on New Year's Eve but it's always nice to know she's "here". She'd really like Jamie and I to come to England at the end of the year, especially if she gets the promotion she's up for. If she does get it (and it's a tough crowd to pick from but I'm confident she'll get it), she wants her husband, Larry and I to be able to pin her. A very big honor indeed. I would love to go but I'm hesitant - I'm terrified of flying that far.

Happy 50th!

Happy 50th Birthday Kathryn! Today is one of my oldest friends birthday. Oldest here means two things - 1. She's OLD (LOL) and 2. She's my longest (oldest) friend. I've known K since childhood. Here's a picture of the two of us last year. Well, K, I know you'll get back at me next year but for now, it's my time! Love ya!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy 29th Birthday Marchelle! (2/2)

Ground Hogs Day. A national holiday? Well, when Marchelle was little that's what she always said it was! LOL Let's hope that Phil the Groundhog will predict spring in 6 weeks (like that would ever happen in NY!!). Happy Birthday Marchelle! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy 50th Birthday Jamie

While we were in Texas, Jamie turned 50!! Happy Birthday Honey Bunny! Jeana and Jamie hosted a party while we were there with all their friends. What a GREAT bunch of friends they have. They are a close-knit bunch and all help each other with their children. We were very impressed with the friendship this group has. I made all kinds of snack-type foods and Jeana bought a cake. They all sang Happy Birthday to Jamie.

It's February already?

Wow, where did January go? I can't believe it's February 1st. I've hardly blogged all month. It was a very hectic month. I was so busy at work trying to catch up from when I was on vacation in December.

Corine, Mike and the kids came to visit while at the same time Jamie had to leave for a company trip. Then we went to Texas and I've been trying to catch up at work all this week. Take a breath! I have no pictures posted from when the kids were here or from our trip in Texas. Corine and Mike left the day before I left for Texas and there was no time to post. I got home the Friday night that they left, packed and left the next morning.

As we were on the plane home from Texas, I realized that I left behind my camera charger so I can't transfer any pictures from my camera with out it. I hope to have my charger back within a month (maybe I should just go buy a new one - I'd probably have it faster LOL).

I had two great weeks. Having the kids here was great. The house was in constant turmoil and I loved every minute of it even though I love my quiet space. It was sad to come home on that Friday and not see their truck in the driveway and having 3 happy faces and 6 arms all stretched out to kiss me hello and welcome me home. Sometimes we forget how wonderful it is to be so loved and for doing nothing more than just coming home!! We did get some snow while they were here and Mike went out and bought them sleds and pulled them around the yard. Corine took a video of it on her camera and it looked like they had a good time. The sleds will go up in the attic for the next time they visit in the winter. Mike even shoveled the driveway - something he hasn't had to do in about 6 years!

We had a great time in Texas. We don't get to see Andrew and Corbin too often and we had alot of fun with them. Andrew, like all 8 year olds, is really testing the waters and seeing what he can get away with. He loves playing the computer games. He has a pretty good sense of humor, I just wish I was able to spend more time with him to really see what he's all about. Corbin is your typical 3 year old. Ok, no he isn't, he's like an adult in a kids body. He always stands with his hands on his hips just taking everything in. Too funny - not sure I have a picture of it, but if I do, I'll be sure to post it.

We were able to see Julianna and she's a real cutie. Didn't get to spend much time with her but as soon as I'm able to post pictures, you'll see some more of her.

We met Jeana's new boyfriend Chris. He's a great guy. We enjoyed meeting him and spending time with him. I'm anxious for the family to meet him, I think you'll like him too. Jeana's little dog LuLu is too cute. I would've loved to bring her home with me.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!

How fast time flies. I can't believe it is January 6th already. I hope your holidays were fun and special and many memories were made. Mine was great. Our vacation to NC was fun and hectic (as always!). Jamie and I headed down the Friday before Christmas and we drove in pouring rain for 12 hours. Not the best type of travel weather, however, no snow - so all was good! The only thing that was bad is my forgetting to bring the camera - can you believe that one!!

Jodi and Rich came up from Tampa on Saturday and Jeana flew in from TX on Christmas Eve. It was the best I think we ever had. It was 70, the sun was shining and we were all together. Benny bought a pork butt and smoked it in a cooker, chopping small pieces of wood all day to keep it going. It was so good. We stayed outside all day and had alot of refreshments! The kids played, we laughed, a couple of Corine and Mike's friends stopped by and we just had alot of fun. The mood was perfect. The only thing that could've made it better was if Jamie and the kids could've been there.

Christmas Day was fun as we sat around and watched the wonder and amazement of the kids opening their gifts, and believe me, they had more than enough. Alyssa is still too small to really realize how fun Christmas is and was happy with the first present she opened. The hat and mittens that Jeana bought here was SO cute.

Two of the best moments was when a present started ringing and Taylor happened to be sitting next to it. She couldn't figure it out. Everyone encourage her to open it and she almost fainted right there. Corine and Mike had gotten her a firefly phone (she can only call Mommy, Daddy and 911) but she thought she was in 7th heaven. The other great moment was when Michael opened one of his gifts from Jodi and Richard and it was a military outfit.

Picture this.....a 4-year boy in his shirt from the night before and his boxer briefs with a military vest and hat and his binoculars - you had to be there but he was thrilled with this present. He is absolutely into the military look.

Jacob was just as cute as ever in his "My First Christmas" outfits that Marchelle and Tyler had him dressed up in.

I don't have many pictures but I'll share a couple that I do have.

Black Friday

As we all know, yesterday was "Black Friday". Christmas Shopping Hell to some. To others it's Christmas Present Treasures. Jamie and I did this shopping spree once many years ago. It took alot of convincing to have him come with me but he did. He kept telling me how stupid and crazy I was and there would be nobody at the stores and blah, blah, blah.

When we came over the hill that overlooked the mall and he saw the sea of cars, he couldn't believe it. I told him to put that Christmas spirit behind that this was war!! All those crazy women out there were only there to get the best deals as quickly as they could (including me!). We had such a good day. We shopped, we laughed, we at breakfast and lunch at the mall and we got all our shopping done in one day. I can't even tell you what year that was but it was a long time ago.

Seven years ago, when Taylor was 15 months, there was a certain toy that Corine wanted to get her for Christmas. Of course, Mimi was bound and determined to get it, so Jamie and I were at Toys-R-Us very early in the morning to make sure we got it......well, we didn't - they were all gone by the time we actually got in the store! I called my girlfriend cause she told me she saw them in some little off the way store. My friend Robin was the hero that Christmas. She got out of bed and went to the store to get the present. Can I remember what that "so special" present was? Nope!!!

Jamie and I are so excited about spending Christmas with the kids this year, that we decided it would be fun to go shopping on Black Friday to relive that hell! LOL We had a ball. Jamie looked through all the sale flyers that came in the Thanksgiving paper. We made a list, mapped our plan of attack and by 0440 Friday morning, we were on the road to the mall!!

Even I was surprised at the amount of cars. It's been awhile since we'd done this, but holy cow! Talk about traffic jam! Circuit City and Toys-R-Us had lines probably about 1/4 mile long of people waiting to get in and let me tell you that the temperature Friday morning at that time was about 25 degrees with a heavy frost! I don't know how long they'd been waiting outside, but I'm sure it was probably 30 minutes to an hour.

We had wanted to go to Toys-R-Us first, but when we saw the line, it wasn't worth it to me. The toy we wanted to get Michael, I had already purchased, but T-R-U had it on sale for 1/2 price which was a huge savings. When we saw the line, we decided we were happy to at least have the gift already. We did stop by there a couple of hours later and they were all sold out! But we went by our list and hit all the stores. Except for just a few small gifts, we were able to complete our shopping. We were home by 1130! And last night, I wrapped just about everything!

As I was wrapping gifts, I started laughing because when the kids were all home on Christmas morning and we passed out the gifts, Benny always had the biggest pile. We always spent the same amount on each kid, but for some reason, buying stuff for Benny always proved to have the best sales going and therefore, he got more. It won't be any different this Christmas. Matter of fact, I can already hear the kids saying something about it!

We will certainly miss Jamie, Jess, Andrew, Corbin and Baby Miller but their gifts will be in the mail this week!

As fast as this year has gone by, the next month will creep by as I wait to take all these Black Friday treasures to my family.

Happy Birthday Corine

Happy Birthday Richard

Tagged

As I was catching up on computer stuff this weekend, I noticed in Moriah's blog that she has tagged me. Now I need to come up with 5 interesting things about myself. Well, I'll give it a shot.

1. I'm very shy. When I tell people this they are usually quite shocked and they laugh as they know me quite differently. However, put me somewhere where I don't know anybody and for the love of God, I can't think of one thing to say! I even hate to walk in front of people that I don't know!

2. I've always wanted to play the piano but everytime I've tried, my left hand does the same thing as my right hand and vice versa. I can't get them to do two different things (except when I'm typing!) Is that weird or what?

3. If I didn't force myself to eat healthy, I'd be a junk food junky. I love junk food!! Guess that's why I have to LOSE 10 pounds!

4. I wish I had gotten into law enforcement years ago. I didn't realize how much I really liked it till they started with all those forensic and crime shows! Maybe secretly that's why I encouraged Marchelle to take criminal justice in college and not business! LOL

5. When I was a senior in high school, I was searching for colleges to go to. I finally found one in FL that I wanted to attend for business. Once my Dad told me to go ahead and look into it, I panicked! I couldn't move away from home, at least not that far!!

Moriah - just to let you know, I don't like odd numbers!! I'm an even number girl!

Ok, so who do I tag? I tag YOU!

Snow

We had our first snowfall on 11/2/06. Granted, it isn't much, but it did stick on the ground for a little while. While everyone knows how much I hate winter and snow, there's no denying that it is pretty, well ok, the first snow fall is pretty - after that - no way!!

It's Over!

On Thursday 11/2/06, the plant officially went on-line again. We set an industry best record for power uprate at 24 days and 15 hours and 17 minutes! We still have to come up to our "new" 100% power which should be in another day or two. We are back on normal hours again! Thank goodness because getting up at 1 am just seemed wrong! LOL

We Have A Baby Coming!

These are pictures of Baby Hoffman's new bedroom! Marchelle and Tyler did a really nice job painting and decorating. Tyler installed the shelf all around the room which I think gives it a great contrast. The top part is done in blue and Tyler sponge painted clouds. They did the rest in Pooh stencils. I can't wait to see it in person!

SHUTDOWN!

Greetings everyone!

Well, our refueling outage is well underway. This will be a busy month for Jamie and I. Jamie has tonight off (the first night of shutdown!) and will start nights on Monday (6p-6a). I will be working 4a-4p or somewhere around that timeframe. I have to work an "outage job" and I have to do my own job (taking care of the VP) so I'm sure I will be very busy. I'll use this week to adjust my work schedule. I have to work my outage job from 0500-noon so I will not be able to answer any phone calls should you call me at work. But if you do need to contact me, use my cell - I'll have it with me at all times but only call if it's an emergency. You can send me an email at work and I'll be able to pick it up on my blackberry.

Hope you have a great month - I'll try to update my blog and let you know how things are going, but I'll be in bed early every night. Scout will be in heaven this month as we will be with her almost all the time!
